Bandhavgarh, April 2005
Runtime 05:33
In April 2005, I returned to Bandhavagarh to follow the progress of the tiger families that I had seen in January and November 2004. On this visit I was accompanied by a BBC film crew shooting a documentary about my work for the Inside Out series. The sightings were exceptional, totalling 47 in the two weeks that we were there. Of the 19 tigers in the range that is open to the public, we were privileged to see all but one!

Tiger Cubs
Bandhavgarh, March 2010
Runtime 05:22
On our journey around the park one afternoon, we came across Chorbera's cubs sleeping in a small shelter made out of a jumble of boulders, where their mother had left them for the day. After a while the cubs came out, and the male cub posed on the rocks before exploring a nearby tree.
While he was up the tree, he discovered a flat mushroom growing out the bark and attempted to eat it. We wondered if the young tiger was considering going vegetarian?
With thanks to Vijay, our guide, who shot the second half of the video while I was shooting stills.

A short video of Kalua, one of Mirchani's cubs who has grown into a large, handsome male tiger and is establishing himself as a dominant male on the eastern side of the park.
The video begins where we found him sitting on rocks in the early morning, before walking through the forest towards Ghoredamon.

Sloth Bear
Bandhavgarh, April 2010
Runtime 05:45
One morning we were driving around the eastern perimiter of the park, having special permission to be in the park 15 minutes early as we had the use of an elephant for the morning.
The relative peace and quiet was certainly helpful as we came upon a sloth bear digging in a termite mound at the side of the road. With its poor eyesight and hearing, he knew something was there but wasn't sure what, and the wind was blowing our scent away from him. As a result he continued his digging, before wandering off through the forest.
Best sighting of a sloth bear ever during my time in the park!

In the autumn of 2007, we guided Mick & Pat Jenner on a tour of Bandhavgarh. With Mick being a professional film maker, it was a bit of a busman's holiday as he enjoyed filming the tigers in the park.
We would like to thank Mick & Pat for making some of the footage from his trip available online. Please click on the tiger icon to go to the website and scroll down the page to find the film "The Tigers of Bandhavgarh, India".
